Dear Mr. Inamori:

	I am very honored and grateful to be the recipient of the Kyoto
Prize.  Extending the Nobel class of award to more scientific and
cultural fields is a very worthwhile thing to do.  It will encourage
people in these additional fields to try to do work of the quality
that will be deemed worthy of such an award.

	I am looking forward to visiting Kyoto again and to meeting
you and meeting my old friends in Kyoto again.  I hope my lectures
will be worthy of the occasion.
